Medfield resident Geena Matuson will host a reception for her solo art gallery at the Medfield TV Gallery, 18 North Meadows Road, on April 29 from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m.

The solo show will feature a number of Matuson’s photographic prints and giclée prints, most of which are landscape works featuring scenes of nature. After the gallery, Matuson’s work will remain on display at the gallery until June for those unable to attend the reception.

As Matuson is preparing for the opening reception, she is excited to showcase her artwork to the community.

“I am looking to share my work with new people,” Matuson said. “That is the goal of the artist, to have your work seen and your voice heard.”

For Matuson, who is also a filmmaker and digital artist, her love of photography began at a young age. Both of her parents were photographers, which exposed her to photography at a young age.

As she became more into the arts, including filmmaking, she kept up her passion for photography as well. She recently graduated from MassArt with a film degree, and has worked on several short films.

While most of her works in other mediums feature people and symbolism, her photography features many landscapes, flowers and scenes of nature. For Matuson, it’s important to her to capture what she sees in nature.

As Matuson prepared for the show, she was left with the task of determining which photos to showcase.

“I have a lot of prints but a lot were not ready to frame,” Matuson said. She noted she looks for photos that are easy to reproduce to show at the gallery.

Many pieces will be for sale to take home, with the ability to provide alternative sizes.
