The Needham Library Friends Gallery is presenting a new solo exhibit demonstrating art works by Naomi Wilsey. The title, “Facets,” is an expression of the diverse aspects and range of the artist. The public is invited to view the exhibit through the month of January during library hours.

Naomi Wilsey, a long-time Needham resident, works primarily in watercolors and interprets nature and other subjects through traditional painting as well as Japanese brush painting known as “sumi-e.” She paints in her home studio and also paints “en plein air” outdoors. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts and Education and a Master’s Degree in Communications Management.

With a background in fine arts, Naomi taught art in a public school before moving to Needham. She owned a graphic design business and taught private art lessons. This led to an advertising and promotions job in educational publishing and on to a career in marketing at IBM.

Naomi is a past co-president of the Needham Art Association and currently serves as the president of the Dedham Art Association. She is an artist/volunteer with Needham Open Studios and shares her art by teaching private art students, exhibiting in local communities and through her website: NaomiWilseyArt.com.
