Needham’s Keating recognized by VFW

Tom Keating, Vietnam Veteran and longtime Needham resident, has been named Outstanding Community Service Chairman 2017 by the National Headquarters of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW).

The National Recognition Award was presented to him last night by VFW Post 2498 Commander Rob Meltzer, who read the citation praising Keating for “the many outstanding contributions made to America through his sponsorship and promotion of local community programs.”

In addition to his work as the Needham VFW Post 2498 Chaplain, visiting ill veterans at the local VA hospitals, and attending to families of deceased veterans, Keating is a member of the Board of Directors of the Needham Council on Aging and a volunteer driver for the Norfolk County RSVP Volunteer Program. He has also served the Town of Needham on the Fallen Brave Committee and the Technology Advisory Board and is a former member of the Needham Exchange Club.

Tom, a writer and former television producer, and his wife Kathleen, an artist, live in Needham.
