The Plugged In community recently held a special going-away party for Plugged In teacher and all around amazing human being Rose O’Malley. Rose's path now leads her to Philadelphia and a new musical adventure.

More than 15 years ago, Rose was in Plugged In's very first band. She was an important part of that band and years later, she has become an important part of Plugged In's teaching staff. Rose has selflessly shared her creativity, positivity, humor, and love of music with countless students for more than 7 years.

“I’m sad to leave Plugged In, but I want to live some more of my rock n’ roll dreams while I'm still young," Rose said. The community sent Rose off in the best way it knew - with hugs and pizza, friends and family, and of course, music.

Rose O’Malley is a guitar player and music educator that began playing guitar at the age of 8. She got her start teaching as a teenager at Creative Arts at Park in Brookline, a summer arts camp where she continued to teach guitar, songwriting and hip hop production every summer. In 2010 Rose graduated from Berklee College of Music with a degree in Professional Music. She is also the guitarist/vocalist in her band, Kid. Rose was born in Needham, went to Needham High School, and was in the very first Plugged In band, MDD.

Rose is obsessed with all things music and enjoys recording, record collecting, composition and production. She enjoys listening to all genres of music, but prefers to play and teach jazz, soul, Motown, post-rock and alternative rock.
