The DS girls varsity lacrosse team has been on a tear of late, entering Friday’s matchup with Norton as winners of seven straight.

Thanks to a strong collective effort and dominance at the faceoff X all game long by senior captain Cricket Simms, the Lady-Raiders (11-4, 10-2) cruised to a 20-0 victory on Friday for their eighth consecutive victory.

Simms got the scoring barrage started for DS just 48 seconds in with a goal off of transition. A little over two minutes later, freshman Hope Shue fired home a goal to double the Raiders’ lead to 2-0.

Barrett Laird made it a 3-0 game just 37 seconds later with 22:04 left before Shue’s second tally of the afternoon off of a feed from Laird extended the lead to 4-0 with 20:32 to play. Laird produced her third point of the half just 21 seconds later to make it a 5-0 game before Shue completed the hat trick off of a feed from fellow freshman Kate Mastrobuono to push the lead to six.

Mastrobuono fired home a goal off of a free position with 16:55 to play to make it 7-0 before Annie Parizeau put one home off of a feed from Simms to push the lead to 8-0 with 14:42 remaining in the half. Shue’s fourth of the half off of a feed from Laird made it a 9-0 game.

Senior captain Maggie Green launched home a goal to put DS in double figures and began the running clock with 13:02 to play. Freshman Amelia Novitch finished off the half with a goal in the final minute to make it an 11-0 game at the break.

DS went on to continue its dominance in the second half, as a 9-0 run to finish the game allowed the Lady-Raiders to cruise to the 20-0 victory.

At the time of print, DS will look to make it nine straight wins when the Raiders host Bellingham on May 23.
