Rebel runner take home gold at nationals

Members of the Walpole High School track team traveled to Greensboro, North Carolina for the New Balance Nationals at North Carolina A&T University from June 13-16.

On the boys side, the Emerging Elite SMR (1600 medley) team of John O’Meara (200), James Berton (200), Stephen Colleran (400) and Shane Grant (800) completely dominated and took home first place with a time of 3:28.70, winning the gold medal by a full second ahead of second-place Top of the Hill School (New Jersey).

As for the girls, Caroline McGrath ran in the Adidas Dream Mile (one-mile), finishing 10th with a time of 5:10. Meanwhile, the 4x800 relay team composed of McGrath, Mia Costa, Cate Stanton and Liane DiMartinis took home 10th place with a time of 7:20.80.
