Both Steve Winwood and Steely Dan played 90-plus minute sets at the Xfinity Center that featured material at least three decades old. On this night, the old came singing into the present and classic hits felt like a trip down memory lane.

Steely Dan's hits were unmistakable, with "Reelin in the Years," "Do it Again," "Rikki Don't Lose that Number" and "Kid Charlemagne" all being tightly presented. The eleven-piece band played flawlessly to a rousing and appreciative audience.

Englishman Steve Winwood's electrifying opening set included fan favorites that were highly appreciated. The rousing set included time tested songs such as "Higher Life," "While my Guitar Gently Weeps" and "Back in the High Life Again," which set the stage perfectly for headliners Steely Dan.

Both artists, despite displaying some wrinkles, proved that when it comes to music, wisdom and skill transcend time. The bands were brilliant.
