Police have a suspect in last week’s shooting at the Econo Lodge on the Walpole/Sharon line.

Responders from the Sharon Police, with assistance from both Walpole and State Police officers, headed to the scene around 10:46 a.m. on Thursday morning, according to the official Sharon Police Facebook page. They had received a phone call reporting gunshots in the vicinity of the motel.

Upon arrival, officers determined that several shots had been fired in the Econo Lodge parking lot. No victims or suspects were found. A weapon, however, was recovered in a nearby neighborhood.

After an intense investigation, a suspect, 24 year-old Nicky Gomes, Jr., was arrested in Brockton. Gomes had a Sharon PD arrest warrant for Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun), Assault with Intent to Murder, Carrying a Firearm without a License, Discharging a Firearm within 500’ of a Dwelling, and Possession of Ammunition without an FID card.

Gomes was arraigned on Monday at Stoughton District Court on the previously mentioned charges. Bail was set at $100,000, which was ultimately revoked due to several other previously opened court cases. He will return to Stoughton District Court on January 4.
