The Wellesley Conservation Council held an Open Garden at Cronk's Rocky Woodland on Sunday, June 11, at the sanctuary at 18 Crown Ridge Road. Neighbors and town residents young and old wandered in the cool shade among the marked native plants and flowers and explored the moss covered "Hansel and Gretel" garden house built by the Cronk family out of recycled materials over 50 years ago.

IMG_1581Council Board member Judith Boland presented photographs and memorabilia of the Cronk family, who donated this land to the Council in 1977 for the enjoyment of all the residents of Wellesley to be maintained as a native wooded garden.

A short video of the Wellesley Girl and Boy Scouts and other volunteers who prepared the gardens, as well as some of the plants on display, can be found at http://goo.gl/qV7kUZ.
