The Westwood Council on Aging’s intergenerational program, “Bridges Together,” sponsored by The Foundation for Westwood Education, was a smashing success at Thurston Middle School. The two-year initiative brought together Westwood seniors and middle-schoolers every Tuesday afternoon for six weeks.

“Bridges Together” is a structured program that provides different activities each week. Middle school teachers Sarah Sanchez and Chrissy Wombalt generously offered their time to help make the series a hit.

Through the program, both the seniors and the students discovered they had more in common than they could have imagined, and that age is not a barrier to creativity and cooperation.
