After being postponed for a week due to inclement weather, a Westwood tradition continued on Wednesday, July 19.

Children made their way to the Sheehan School field, where they were greeted by the Westwood Fire Department and DJ Magic Mark. The Fire Department then proceeded to make foam - piles upon piles of the stuff - and invited the kids to play in it while music played.

Far from the flame-retardant chemical foams used by some fire departments in their day-to-day work, the masses of bubbles on the Sheehan field were the product of simple concentrated soap and water, making the event both fun and safe for the large number of kids who came to enjoy the festivities.

As they have for decades now, Westwood’s children - many of whom even donned goggles before plunging headlong into the froth - thoroughly relished the opportunity to indulge in an afternoon of carefree fun.
